Athens, 18th March 2015
The non-profit organization “Heritage & Museums” is organizing for once more, a drawing competition for pupils aged 12-18 who study at one of the schools of Attica. The title of this year’s contest is:
“Drawing Europe - Mythology, Traditions, Museums”.
The first prize winner, together with one of his/her parents and accompanied by Heritage & Museums΄ President, Lila de Chaves, will visit this year, MuCEM (Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations) in Marseille, which received the European Museum of the Year Award-EMYA 2015, by the Council of Europe (www.mucem.org). The winners of the second and third prizes will receive cash awards. All prizes are offered by Heritage & Museums.
In times of crisis, our goal is to enhance the educational role of art and museums, turning the interest of pupils and their families into the preservation and promotion of each country’s cultural heritage, granting them at the same time a message of optimism and intercultural bond with the other European countries.
The competition is organized in cooperation with the Greek Ministry of Culture, Education and Religion, the Governor of Attica, the Municipality of Athens’ Organisation for Civilisation, Sports and Youth, the Office of the European Parliament in Athens and the European Museum Forum (EMF), Council of Europe.
Seventy of the pupils’ drawings will be selected by eminent judges, Prof. of the National Polytechnic School of Beaux Arts, Art Historians and culture journalists and will be presented at an exhibition at the “Art Center” of the Athens Municipality from the 22th until the 30th April 2015.
The last day of the exhibition will be devoted, through a colloquium, to presenting and analyzing the importance of art in the development of pupils’ personalities, but also to the power of intercultural bonds between European countries.
